I love this camera, but you know, there are people in some forums who don't realize they need to take some time, not only to know the technic and get acquainted with the camera to exploit its possibilities. Doing that, the Pana FZ18 is a wonderful little cam (compared with a reflex). Disadvantages: It depends on your personal taste and the camera you are using to compare it. For me is the best bridge now in the market, and really more enjoyable than a reflex if you plan to take the camera with you for traveling, walking or moving in general. I prefer the bridge if don't need to take the camera with me all day long (better dynamic range, you can use higher ISO with less noise). What I miss in FZ18: Tilt & swivel LCD of Canon S3 & S5, flash hot shoe and intervalometer. But in my opinion those reasons are a very little price to pay and with FZ18 you win in better IQ, wide angle, more zoom, better lens, powerful macro and better ergonomy. Greetings, Enrique
